A stunning solid beech rocking chair, made by Stol Kamnik of Yugoslavia in the 1950s-1960s.
Clearly modelled on the iconic Mademoiselle chair by Finnish designer Ilmari Tapiovaara, this chair has a classic mid century look with its tapered spindles and curved edges.
When this chair came to us it was caked in thick white gloss paint! We've painstakingly stripped everything back to bare wood, before refurbishing the wood to give the beech it's warm, golden glow back. The seat has been finished in black for a modern twist on the original (which would have been a blonde wood seat and black frame). It contrasts so well with the beech wood!
Of course a chair this old has wear and tear, the odd creak and imperfection, including some repairs to spindles. It's nice that it's been refurbished but yet retains its patina which it has built up. We really have saved this chair from being scrapped given the condition we received it in, and it's now ready to live for another 60-70 years.
The price also includes free shipping to most mainland UK locations as standard.
